Our meticulous process provides a solid foundation for any epoxy system, whether you choose a sleek metallic finish, a durable flake system, or a classic solid color. Each finish may require additional steps, but no matter the choice, our expertise ensures long-lasting results—even in Little Rock’s challenging climate. We don’t just apply epoxy—we create floors that elevate your space and exceed expectations.
PREP
To ensure maximum adhesion, we begin by removing dirt, oils, and any contaminants using an industrial-grade degreaser. Next, we mechanically grind the surface to open the concrete pores, creating the perfect profile for the epoxy to bond securely. This step is especially important in Little Rock’s humid climate, where trapped moisture can lead to delamination if not properly addressed. That’s why we also conduct a moisture vapor test to identify any underlying moisture issues that could compromise the system. If needed, we apply a moisture barrier to protect the integrity of the floor. We also take care of cracks and control joints, repairing them with an epoxy patching compound to create a smooth, even surface. This level of attention ensures that your epoxy floor not only looks stunning but lasts for years to come.
BASE COAT APPLICATION:
Once the surface is properly prepared, we apply a moisture-resistant epoxy primer to promote strong adhesion and prevent bubbling caused by humidity. Following the primer, we apply the base coat—typically a 100% solids epoxy or self-leveling epoxy. For flake systems, decorative flakes are broadcast into the wet base coat, while metallic finishes require precise pigment dispersion to create the desired effect. Curing times should be carefully monitored, as temperature and humidity fluctuations in Arkansas can affect the curing process.
TOP COAT APPLICATION:
The final stage involves applying a protective top coat to ensure long-term durability. For flake and high-build systems, an intermediate clear coat may be applied to lock in the flakes and add an additional layer of protection. A UV-resistant polyurethane or polyaspartic top coat is then applied to provide superior abrasion resistance and safeguard against UV damage, which is especially important for areas exposed to sunlight or harsh conditions. Proper curing time is essential to achieve a hard, durable finish.
By following these steps, a high-quality epoxy floor can withstand heavy use while maintaining its appearance and structural integrity for years to come.
What type of coating is right for you?
In selecting the ideal epoxy flooring for your needs, it's crucial to take into account variables like your budget, timeline, anticipated lifespan, durability, performance attributes, and design preferences. All our concrete floor coatings boast low upkeep requirements and effortless cleaning. We're committed to collaborating with you to pinpoint the perfect choice for your residential or commercial setting.
Sealed Concrete
Concrete, inherently appealing, yet porous, can be enhanced with a basic epoxy base coat and a urethane topcoat to prevent moisture infiltration while preserving its desired raw, rustic, and unpolished appearance. Prepping and grinding your concrete is necessary before sealing.
Polyaspartic flooring
Epoxy lacks UV resistance and tends to yellow with time, making it unsuitable for outdoor use. Instead, for outdoor or UV-resistant indoor flooring, we opt for polyaspartic coating, akin to polyurethane. Polyaspartics need fewer layers, leading to quicker curing times, and inherently offer a high gloss finish. If the shine isn't to your liking, we can apply an additional product to diminish it. Given its ability to remain cool in direct sunlight, polyaspartic coating is our preferred option for pool decks.
Flake flooring
Another option offering UV resistance and rapid curing is flake flooring. It also boasts scratch resistance, chemical resistance, slip resistance, and moisture resistance. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, it combines functionality with style. The "flake" finish provides a texture akin to an orange peel, enhancing slip resistance. With an array of colors and combinations available, you can select from endless possibilities.
Quartz flooring
For unparalleled durability and an antimicrobial solution, quartz floor systems are your best choice. At a thickness of 1/8 inch, quartz is incredibly robust. Our process begins with an epoxy base, followed by the application of quartz, and finishes with a topcoat tailored to your requirements. Benefit from exceptional durability, along with resistance to chemicals, stains, and slips. Quartz is not only functional but also visually pleasing, offering a wide range of color options to enhance your concrete. Unlike our other floor coatings, quartz coatings can also be applied vertically.
Metallic flooring
This type of coating is sometimes known as metallic pearl, pearl epoxy, or pearlescent floor coating. If you're looking to convert your concrete into a cozy, distinctive, luxurious, or artistic space, a metallic floor coating is an excellent choice. It's a low VOC flooring option that enhances durability and offers slip and water resistance. However, it's suitable for indoor use only as it lacks UV resistance. This 3-layer system starts with epoxy, followed by a captivating decorative coating in the middle, and finishes with urethane on top for a satin finish. Once applied, it disguises the concrete completely!
Solid color flooring
Our solid color floor coatings stand the test of time. We tailor the base layers precisely to match your specific performance requirements, then finalize it with either an epoxy or polyaspartic topcoat. Many clients report a sense of increased space in their area following the application of our coatings. Key advantages include rapid cure and drying times, zero VOCs when using an epoxy topcoat, a high gloss finish, and enhanced slip resistance.
